INFORMATION AND SIGN UP!
Dear Scouts and parents, It is time to sign up for either GREAT Summer Camp week and pick your merit badges. Troop 197 is going to CAMP RAINEY June 8th through June 14th and to CAMP WOODRUFFJuly 6th through July 12th So, check your calendar now and then choose one [or both] camps soon. [ because the most popular classes fill up first ! ] This year, Rick S will be our SPL at CAMP RAINEY & Andy B will be our SPL for CAMP WOODRUFF . They both will need an ASPL to help them, so contact Mr. Eidson if interested in that position. Both SPLs will pick their Patrol Leaders for their summer camps from the scouts that sign-up for each camp [and are best qualified to assist their SPL and ASPL.] . We need at least two Adults at each camp during the entire week. Adults that want to attend for just part of the week are more than welcome to sign-up. [ There is no cost, and it's a lot of fun ! ] If interested, or you are ready to commit, please tell Mr. Eidson at work: 404 352-3402 or voluparts@mindspring.com [ & also tell Kay Candler for CAMP RAINEY or tell Denise Wilkins for CAMP WOODRUFF ]
We have prepared information packets for both camps. These were given out at the meeting on Feb.10th. and will be available at all upcoming meetings. They include listings of all Merit Badge choices, schedules, medical forms, afternoon activity choices, and or other relevant information. Please read them carefully. Please follow ‘Age Recommendations’ when selecting merit badges. First year scouts are required to sign up for the swimming and first aid merit badge, and then they can choose other badges from their '11 year old' list. [ & A Scout can also choose to ‘Stay at Camp’ and rest during one of the offered merit badge sessions, if he doesn’t want to sign up for as many merit badges as the # of sessions that are offered ]. Please pick your badge choices [Up to 6 for either camp ] [ It is helpful to give some alternative merit badge choices as well.] And, If a Scout wants to have the same schedule of another Scout, please indicate this in the email as well. Please complete the 2 page Class 1& 2 medical forms for Scouts with your doctor’s help, keep a copy and send them in . [ or Class 3 medical form, for Adults and for older Scout separate programs like Trek, Cope, Gold Rush, Ultimate Zone, and Woodruff EXTREME ] Parents that stay overnight at the camp need to have an Adult CLASS 3 medical form filled out by their doctor . That form needs to be copied and then sent in, along with the Scout’s medical form, and the Scout's camp fee .
Please sign a Release for all Rainey Scouts - [ & IF 13 years or older AND signing up for 'Trek', 'Cope', or 'Gold Rush' , then also sign a Release for that program.]
